Upper wisdom teeth were pulled this morning. The appointment was originally for tomorrow at 5:30pm, but there was a fire yesterday at Mount Sinai hospital, and the surgeon's operations were cancelled, and re-scheduled, so they were scrambling around to reschedule as many of his in-office appointments as they could. They called this morning to ask if I could come in "now", so I did. Much less stressful this way -- I don't have to wait 2 days with aching gums, and I don't have a chance to anticipate the work. A pleasant surprise.
As usual, I needed extra Novocaine. We didn't get quite enough in on the right side, so the stitch at the end hurt a bit. Not too bad, though, and this way there's less Novocaine to wear off (gosh, that part seems to take forever).
Dentists are always confused by how much and how easily my gums hurt, compared with how little my teeth hurt. The tooth pulling was fine -- I could feel and hear cracking, and was thinking "Let it go, release, goodbye," and poof! there it went, first one side and then the other.
Ah! There goes the Novocaine. Finally. I guess 2 hours isn't bad. Huh, my jaw is clicking on left. Interesting.
I should have had breakfast -- now I'm hungry but I'm scared to eat. Boy suggests gruel. Hmph.
I kept the teeth. They are disgusting. And the left one confirms my hypothesis -- I was hurting because the tooth was cracked, and the crack was hurting the gum -- the tooth itself didn't hurt at all.
Oh, and, the price of wisdom? $1500.
P.S. You know what's going to drive me freakin' insane? The stitch. Poking my gum. AIGH!!!!
baerana has just pointed me towards Linux for Kids! There's two -- edubuntu and Linux for Kids. Wow. (I was joking that Windows is for 3-year-olds.)
