piglet: crayon purple on white paper, me as drawn by my son (Default)

He can read simple words like cow and cat and duck. When he wants his diaper changed, he comes up to me, turns around, and says, "Look!" Last month, he'd say, "Click the blue e, daddy, click the blue e!" Today, he uses the Start menu to run Internet Exploder for himself. Every morning, as soon as he gets up, he runs to the office and says, "Look, mom! My computer!"

This morning, after surfing his web for a bit, he told me, "I have a surprise, come and see!" And when I came into the living room, he said, "It's time for fish!" (Nemo's Adventure V-tech game cartridge.)

After he played videogames for a while, we went out to open play at the indoor gymnasium of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. He ran around like mad bouncing on mats with a couple of the other kids who were there. 2 or so hours later, he said, "Apple juice?" And I said, "Okay, let's go get some." And he ran around some more and then said, "Okay." So we went to the sandwich shop across the avenue and had sandwiches and juice. And then I asked him, "What do you want to do now?" And offered some choices, which he refused. And he thought for a while, and said, "Go see Dora!" And I said, "On the computer?" And he said, "No!" And I said, "At CMOM?" (Children's Museum of Manhattan.) And he said, "No. um, YES!"

So off we went to CMOM, where he ran around like a mad thing from exhibit to exhibit, visiting his favorites (that's pretty much all of them). Right when we got there, and again when we left, he said, "Can we fix it? Yes, we can! Bob the Builder!" And I had to tell him that, no, sorry, Bob wasn't here anymore.

And then the museum closed (fortunately just as he was ready to go home), and I said, "Bus, or walk?" And he said, "Bus!" And we went to the busstop. Which is right next to Good Enough to Eat. So I thought, hm, I wonder if [livejournal.com profile] elissaann would come join us? And I said, "Hey, sprog, do you want to get something to eat?" And he said, "Bus!!" So we got on the bus and came home, instead.

On the way home, I was going to do some shopping, but the route to shopping took us past home, and he ran towards the steps shouting, "Daddy! Daddy!!"

He has a music class on Tuesdays, and we've moved to the older class, because he's the oldest child in his class, and he's paying attention, unlike the others. So he's going to join the older kids next week.

Still haven't cut his hair. Daddy puts it in a ponytail sometimes.

At 11pm he brushes his teeth and goes to his room (not without some help, heh), where he reads to himself or talks to his Po until he falls asleep. At 10:30am he's up and ready for his day again, starting with, "Look, mom! My computer!"

His other favorite things to do? Carry a cat around ("Look, mom, a cat!"). Bathe ("Take a bath?"). Paint and draw. Showing off his toys ("Look! My room!").
